AlabamaTexas Gulf Coast for Winter?
On our first winter RV trip last year we drove across I-10 to Tucson, AZ and stopped at various places along the way.... Pensacola, San Antonio, Kerrville, Las Cruces, Benson. Enjoyed the trip but decided we don't want to go that far this winter.
So, DW really likes the beach so thinking of spending time along the Gulf coast. Looking for recommendations for good locations in AL and TX for Jan and Feb. We don't generally stay in just one location more than 10 days to two weeks. How far in advance do you need to get reservations or would we likely be able to find a spot on shorter notice?

The AL Gulf Coast does get snow and subfreezing temperatures in the winter.

We've stayed at Gulf State Park, Gulf Shores, AL during the winter. Yes, it's cooler there but for us from Michigan it was just fine. The white beach is awesome but the water/air is probably too cool to swim for most folks. If you're into fishing the state park has a huge pier. It also has a golf course and room rentals for guests.
This state park is unique in that you can spend the whole winter there - no 14-day restriction. It is full of snowbirders during the winter. They have some planned activities in the clubhouse. The lots are well-spaced and very nice. Snowbirders return year after year. They are full hookups.
If you have bikes definitely bring them. You can bike in this huge park, bike to the beach (or walk), bike into town. It completely flat.
The town has wonderful restaurants and you can always buy fresh shrimp off the boats. There's lots to do in the area including a short day trip into Pensacola or into Mobile via a short ferry.
We'd highly recommend it if you don't need real hot weather.

We stay in Gulfport, MS at a military campground. The beaches are well taken care of but under utilized. Not like south FL in the winter but pretty darned nice. Lots of casinos if that is your thing. U.S. 90 is a wonderful drive. There are a bunch of campgrounds in the area and some are right near the beach. We also liked San Antonio but there is loads of traffic.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We did visit San Antonio for about 5 days on our winter trip this past Feb. and enjoyed that.
I had not considered Gulfport, MS but will consider that. We ended our trip with a 10 day stay in Navarre, FL. DW thinks we should try to find a good spot on the FL panhandle. Destin was too crowded for my tastes.

Gulf Shores never got snow the years we were there. Low around 50 degrees.

Depending on how far south in Florida you consider the Panhandle to reach, Williston Crossings RV in Williston, FL is an excellent park. About 28mi west of Ocala. Spent last winter there and really enjoyed it. Enough events/activities, Grist Mill on site lunch place, pizza night(highly recommended), pool, pickle ball etc. long term is reasonable depending on site. Overlooking the lake, and premium sites more expensive. Can't go back this winter, but would again.

OK, just looking, browsing RV Park Reviews, etc., I came up with Perdido RV Resort and Marina in Perdido Key, FL. DW and I both like to have a variety of things to do and it looks like it offers a good combination of close-by attractions, a nice beach nearby, and a short drive to Orange Beach/Gulf Shores. We don't need summer like weather and primarily want to escape the snow and cold we get in VA in Jan and Feb.
Anyone familiar with this particular park and location?
