There is a group called Harvest Hosts. For a membership fee they provide overnight stay at farms and wineries. Not a member so I can't report on the number or locations or sites.

Don't forget Craigslist. I have seen what you are looking for in many locations posted in Housing on Craigslist.

I was going to suggest this site myself. Like Brad and Bonnie, I have not signed up yet but it sounds like it could be a great way to travel. For example, you could stay at a small winery over night. They may only have power or water, more than likely not sewer, anyway they only require you purchase a product or something they sell. Maybe a bottle of wine. You also get the opportunity to really get to know the owner/operation you are visiting. Sounds like fun to me.

Just adding my two cents.

Chance

By the way, I don't think you are weird!

One other place not mentioned yet is VRBO or vacation home rental companies. Not sure if it is useful all over, but we have used it a couple times to rent lots on/near the ocean/gulf. The couple times we used it, the lot had full hookup sometimes cable sometimes a screened porch room.

might be interesting to investigate other areas.

Wow! Thanks for that information. I have used VRBO many times and have rented some fabulous homes around the country. I never considered the possibility to rent a parking space for the RV.
