It is tragic. That is a very difficult trail and it was just closed for a short period because of a rock fall. I wonder if that had anything to do with it.

We hiked it in 2010, about a week after someone had fallen. I don't consider it dangerous as long as you stay on the trail.

And pay close attention to what you are doing.

Have completed this adventure twice but called off my third attempt last May when we encountered big crowds on past Scout Lookout. It looked like the scene you see on Mt. Everest.
NPS needs to consider limiting number of daily entries to Zion NP.

I agree on this.

If one person gets a panic attack - and they do - it holds up the whole trail of hikers.

We did this hike last April. To avoid the crowds you have to be on the first bus in the morning to drop you off at the trailhead. On the way down we met lots of people that created a log jam in a few areas. Saw people carrying toddlers in backpack carriers. Thought that was extremely dangerous. This is a great hike but you must pay attention.

I think I will just stick to seeing it on YouTube. Good enough for me.

Might work for You but not for Many - IMHO this was the Single most Memorable hike for My DW and I.

Granted we did it in late December - with our Two sons - and the Weather was great along with the fact that there were only a couple others up there with Us. -

Requires your complete attention but is not to be Feared. The View from the landing is Unmatched.

JMHO,

JMHO,
For the many that do it, more power to you. There are certain risks to such activities, hence the thread. You wont catch me in a wing suit either.
