Any good camping in Mississippi and Arkansas?

Heading to New Orleans from Virginia this summer. I'd like to head back via Mississippi and Arkansas as we have never been camped in either state. Any must see sights or camping resorts we can add to our itinerary?

Gulpha Gulch in Hot Springs is very nice. If you are looking for more of a resort Catherine's Landing, also in Hot Springs, is very nice. In Central Arkansas the Maumelle Park COE is a great place to camp on the river. We have been to a COE in Mississippi called North Abutment on Lake Grenada. It is the cleanest COE park I have ever been to.

Thanks for the tip. I've booked a couple of nights at Catherine's Landing and will head to Wallace Creek COE park from there.

We have stayed at Cajun RV Park in Biloxi. It is across the street from the Gulf and there are several casinos in the area if you are interested in that. The entrance to Cajun RV is right across from the beach and the water. Depends on what site you can be outside your rig and look at the water.
We did enjoy our time there in December.

We stayed at Wallace Creek COE last year in a waterfront pull thru site. It was beautiful there until there were tornadoes running around the night before we left.

One of the few parks I have stayed that actually had decent wifi. Our ATT hot spot worked ok the Verizon hot spot wasn't happening. At that time I did not have a booster or an external MIMO antenna though. Be sure to drive up West Mountain to the overlook. There are lots of things to do downtown also. Both are only 15-20 minutes away.

Another vote for Crater of Diamonds. Hot Springs and Hope are two easy day trips. We also enjoyed our visit to Little Rock. We liked the location of Downtown RV Park. We took the foot bridge over to the Clinton Library and Heifer Village.

In Mississippi' we stayed at John W Kyle SP. It is an easy drive to Oxford, clarksdale, and Tupelo.

Traveling NE through Mississippi, research The Natchez Trace Parkway. It goes from Natchez Ms in SW Ms to Nashville Tn. There aren’t a lot of RV parks along the way but they are available. It’s 440 miles long so it’s a leisurely two day drive with Tupelo Ms being about half way and there are several parks in the area. There are nice parks around the Ross Barnett Reservoir near Jackson Ms. also in NE Ms there is a series of great COE parks along the Tennessee- Tombigbee Waterway.

I would second the Natchez Trace national parkway, think of it as a national park that is in most places 1/4 mile wide and 440 miles long with pull off sites along the way and if I recall correctly a 50 mph speed limit. So just wide enough that you can't see much hint of civilization. There are a variety of public campgrounds as well as some commercial campgrounds along the trace, though you may have to drive a few miles off the trace to get to them. See https://www.nps.gov/natr/planyourvis...he-parkway.htm

As to Arkansas, there are numerous options with a number of nice state parks, as well as many lake front COE campgrounds, as well as a number of nice commercial rv parks, and even the older National Park in the US (Hot Springs National Park, which is also one of the smallest, and much of it is in town). Crater of Diamonds is very hit or miss, depending on weather, etc. Do you like spending your day digging in a plowed field in what is likely to be 100 degree temperatures and 80% humidity conditions on the chance of finding a diamond, most likely a brown diamond fleck, if you are lucky, though much larger ones are found every year or so. If you want something cooler there are a number of tourist caves and caverns in northern Arkansas, it all depends on what you want to do.

Turpentine Creek

Right outside of Eureka Springs is a big-cat sanctuary, lions, tigers, and bears! RV park & tent camping, so get to sleep with the tigers! Turpentine Creek, and the town of Eureka Springs (7 miles away) is a lot of fun, too. Happy Travels!
North-west Arkansas.
