Anyone canceling their Northeast trip?

We are in Delaware starting our Seafood run through the NE to include NS, PEI, and New Brunswick. The air in Delaware right now is hazy due to the wildfires in Quebec and surrounding area. Has or is anyone considering canceling their trip to these areas?

I was reading how bad the fires are in Canada.

When there are fires here, I have my air purifier which works very well. I must admit that I was surprised how well it worked.

It's not bad here; some people say they can smell smoke, I can't. There is a haze sometimes but it's suppose to go away as the Jet Stream moves. It wouldn't make me change plans.

I guess it would depend on:
1. How long the fires will be out of control causing the smoke particles to continue to be airborne
2. How sensitive you are to air quality issues

Even OH is seeing the effects of the smoke with air quality alerts for the past several days & for several days more. Friday is supposed to be the worst here with extreme air quality alerts. Not supposed to dissipate until the wind switches from coming from the north/east to coming from the south/west. I haven't even had a campfire on this week's outing as I've heeded the advice to not burn wood during this time. I have seen others at this park with nightly campfires. I suppose my little campground campfire really wouldn't make one iota of difference in adding to the bad air quality. I just prefer to not contribute to the issue.

I started another thread under: Forums / Regional / Northeast which has had quite a little response.

We're watching the Canadian fires closely. Currently we're scheduled for a month in the Maritimes this summer. If the summer remains dry and fires persist, we will likely cancel. The dangers associated with breathing in that smoke are real, even if you can find some respite inside your RV. I'm not going to travel all that way only to have to spend most of my time inside. But our fingers are crossed that more regular weather patterns return up there, and that we won't have to be faced with making a choice at all. And as we sit down here in the lower 48 and worry about disruption to our plans for having fun, our thoughts and prayers go out to all who are actually having to survive the effects of all those fires across Canada. Praying for rain and a return to normalcy.

I currently in a park with 350 sites. Last night, sitting around the campfire this exact conversation came up. Some were cancelling their NE trip because of the fear of what the smoke might do to them.

Today is a totally different day here. Some overcast skies but no smoke or haze, just rain clouds and some showers on and off. Back to normal, at least for now.

This is great news, we were wondering if we should cancel. DH and I are heading to Hanover PA and then on to Reading to check out a few motorhomes, glad to know that it is clearing a bit, we do have the recommended masks just in case.

Nope, it's been bad here the last few days. Not too bad today. We're heading to Association Island tomorrow morning. Was there on Memorial weekend. Loved it!

If you are headed up to NS, PEI, northern Maine. I would sure be making an alternative plan and set some stake in the ground when I would cancle my plans if there were no cimprovement.

I'm 50 / 60 miles north of you and it's pouring here. Have had some showers on and off all afternoon which we desperately need. I have 70 acres of corn growing in my fields which is going to be happy.
I hope they get some of this up in Canada to help in fighting these fires.
And, of course before I got done typing the rain has stopped again!

I find it interesting this situation wouldn't get all the coverage it has if it was happening out west where uncontrolled wildfires are so common. Those people deal with this all the time. There may be a quick blurb about it on national news, but certainly not taking up as much of the national news as this is now.

I think it's only because the east very rarely sees these circumstances is what's gotten everyone talking about it.
