Smile Asheville, NC

Hope to spend a week in late Sept or early Oct. Traveling in a 2017 Newmar Essex 45' with a Jeep behind. Any suggestions as to where to stay or to stay away from?

Thanks>

Stay away from KOA West Asheville. Their sites are not very level. Our sewer connection was uphill from our site. Ask me how useful that was!!!

We've stayed at Bear Creek CG twice. It was nice stop for a couple of days.
Lots of shady spots. We were pulling a 43' ft 5th wheel, so I'm sure you'd be ok.

Is that KOA the one that's on two levels?

We like the KOA east. They have some big premium pull thru sites.

Nothing fancy or expensive but the fairgrounds across from the airport does the trick as a base FHU & level. Distant views of the mountains are good. With no events on you might have the place to yourselves.

If you can get a mountain top site at Mama Gerties, go for it. Views are great

Second for Mama Gerties

This is a second for Mama Gerties. The mountain top sites have wonderful views but have some highway noise. The lower sites are smaller but definitely a pleasant view. I believe the upper sites close sometime in October.

The KOA East is only a mile or so away from Gerties.

Both are only a few minutes from Asheville.

I would also recommend Mama Gertie's mountain top sites. Been there twice. But I would only do the straight pull thru sites on the Northern side. The crescent pull-through sites with the patios have very obstructed views with electric cable lines that really ruin the setting and view in my opinion.

We stayed at Bear Creek and found it to be a nice park.
The main road through the park is a bit narrow and when people park their cars in front of their RV's it makes it difficult to get through.
We drove our class A to the Biltmore estate.
Good parking there but the road way in needed the tree branches to be cut back.
I left a complaint with their administration and never heard a word back.

Yes, The KOA Asheville west is the one with the 2 levels. The upper level the sites are very close... the lower level is where we camped and it was not level.
