Where did you stay? Do you just dry camp along the road? Or are there campgrounds?

There are two campgrounds, one is state and the other is national. We like the national as it is half price with the Golden Age pass, $10 a night and no hookups. Sites are large, level and paved. The SP has a limited number of electric sites available.

I had wanted to get down to Chincoteague/Assateague area this summer, but haven't seen a CG in that area that claims to be able to handle a big rig. The book I looked at said the state park max was only 29 foot...

How well they lie. I no longer trust or even use Woodalls / Trailerlife for CG info. The above post shows our 35E Bounder with our Fusion parked in front. Our dolly is behind and all tires are on pavement. Take away the dolly and you could easily overhang the back end of the site by 10' or so. The directories have a nasty habit of down playing all public parks, probably because they are so much nicer and a hell of a lot cheaper too. Last time I had the Woodalls out I was ripping pages out of it to start the fire.

The directories downplay public facilities because they don't buy advertising. That's why we only use RV Park Reviews :: Home It's completely non-commercial and there are lots of reviews of public campgrounds.

We are staying at Cast-a-ways across the bay for a full month. They say you can see the horses running on the beach. We will see.

We have been to the state park and love but this year we are going to try the national park because it is pet friendly. We are looking forward to it! It really is a one of a kind (and beautiful) place!
