I have been there 2 or 3 times with my motor home, stayed at both Ocean and Bayside areas. Bayside sites are huge. Last time out there, some sand dunes were filling some of the oceanside sites.

The horses roam all around even on the beach. They can come up and raid your table if chips are left out.

Will go again.

My son was a law enforcement ranger there 2 years ago and we stayed site 25 which is directly on the dunes in between the site and the ocean. #24 is just across the road (maybe 50 feet further from the ocean). No hookups and set generator hours.

Watch the weather as the Superintendent just released info the the entire off highway vehicle is under water due to high tides and hurricane Teddy.

Drive slow, do not leave your food out, and DO NOT approach close to the wild horses - you WILL get a ticket. I doubt you'll be in the water but rip tides are common and deadly. My son dealt with 2 or 3 fatalities that summer from rip tide drownings.

Enjoy!

Here's a good report on the campground. Note at the very bottom is another link to their other writeup on the park. They give an excellent detailed report on places they've stayed with a 40' motorhome. Go to the top line for their reviews by state.
