Bakers Hole CG now reservation only (near Yellowstone)

I have seen Bakers Hole campground mentioned numerous times as a great place to stay if you get to the West Yellowstone area without reservations. It was one of our favorite spots! But they have gone to reservation only this year, a real disappointment. I just thought I would out the word out.

A lot of campgrounds have gone to reservations only now. Bakers Hole is a nice little campground.

Last year I was in Glacier NP and they went to reservations last year instead of FCFS, this year they added more campgrounds to the reservation list.

Gros Ventre in Grand Teton is also a reservation only campground instead of FCFS.

So sorry to learn of the good places going to reservations. It was a favorite of ours. Now only those who make reservations a year in advance will be using it. :(

Do you have a link to that statement?

A friend who is working for the Forest Service in West Yellowstone told me, and then I looked it up on recreation dot gov.

Hmmm..... all the FF sites are not reservable according to this chart. That would be good. It looks like the ones close to the road are reservable. Our favorites in the rear near the river are not. )

Within the next couple of days, I will run down there and see if I can get some information from a ranger or somebody.

We will be here in West Yellowstone until August 8th. Any questions, ask me and I will try to find out.

I wouldn't bet my life on it but.....

Just got this off their website 0710 EST 6/7/2023

https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/cust...ea/?recid=5573

No Reservations: This campground does not use a reservation system, it is managed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Then I went to Recreation.gov and it looked like a few sites might be reservable buy the majority were not.

The Forest Service is notorious for not updating web pages. Call the district office to get current info.

Here's the reservation site & you can see what is reservable. Luckily, not many.

I just went down and talked to the Campground Host about this information. He did say "that they have 20 sites which are reservable, and the rest are first come."
Sites which are reserved does have a sign on them which has name and dates reserved. The limit is 16 days, in all sites.

The Host also shared that the number of sites capable of being reserved is expected to increase for next year. How many more will fall under this new reservable status is unknown at this time.

If you go here, use caution, he did say bear/bison activity has been seen around the area.
