Baker's Hole West Yellowstone

I haven't seen many of you mention Baker's Hole USFS campground. Would like to stay there this June, as we visit Yellowstone on the way to Alaska. Does it fill early in the day? Planning to leave Gros Ventre about 7 am on a Wednesday morning to get thru YNP and get a site at Baker's Hole. If that's full would think about Lonesomehurst or Rainbow Point. Will NOT consider KOA.

What time of year? We've stayed there in late spring and did not have an issue and it didn't fill up until later in the day.

We did a drive-thru the first week of June and there were some sites available mid day.

It's a wonderful place to stay. Even mid-summer and Fall we got a site. Leave Gros Ventre (another favorite of ours) as early as you can in the morning. They have some electric sites which fill fast but we prefer the rear sites which are dry camping. Have a great trip. Alaska is another favorite. Got room for a couple more?

We were there the week before and over Memorial Day this last year. Because it was a "holiday" week and weekend, it was busy. First day there (Wed, I think), pulled in around 11 am, and was full. Found a spot in W Jelly for the night, bookied over there around 9 am on Thurs and snagged a place. Didn't get an electric site, ok with us (solar & gen). We were in site 53, large pull thru, flat, trees. Many sites are in open, shrub areas. Our trailer is 34 ft, and fit 53 nicely.

Stayed there till Tues am and each day the park was pretty full up before or by noon. Lots of open sites on Tues!!!!

Same thing in park, billions of peeples!! Late May & early June are wonderful for weather, but not for the amount of tourist showing up!! If not on a weekend, you should be able to snag a spot during the week easily. Nice park, well taken care of, good hosts that keep an eye on things, and good access to west entrance.

Thanks everybody, we would like an electric site to run the DW's O2 machine, but could get by with genny, solar and batteries. Twogypsies: sure we have room for another, 4 couples in the states, only 3 going on to Alaska.
