Balsam Mountain campground in Smokey Mountain National Park

Does anyone know the tunnel height clearances on the way to Balsam Mountain campground in the Smokey Mountain National Park? I believe the campground is off highway 19 on the North Carolina side of the park, not far from Maggie Valley. I was there a couple of years ago with my Airstream trailer. It's a remote campground, at nearly 5200 feet elevation, beautiful, quiet, and always cool. I'd like to take our new class A up there, but I need at least eleven feet, seven inches of clearance to get through the two tunnels. Thanks. Komac

Thanks, Doublex. That's a useful site. I looked up the tunnel heights and found that the center of the three tunnels I have to go though average 18 feet. However, the side clearances of the rounded openings are as low as a little over ten feet. I'm thinking about stopping before I enter the lowest tunnel, walk through to the other end and stop traffic while a friend drives the motorhome through, centering on the center line. There's very little traffic on that road, so that might be a sytem that would work. Thanks again. Komac
