We were there last week. Stayed at Bar Harbor Campground. Seems nice for a commercial RV park. I know you're looking to make reservations way out, so BHC probably isn't for you since they don't take reservations and don't take credit cards. But if you have to call an audible at the last minute, it might be worth considering. Like all campgrounds in the area, it was packed, and we were lucky to get an electric site when we arrived at 10 am on a Sunday. Well, I should qualify that to say that the water/electric sites were packed. Many of the no hookup sites were empty.
If you're looking for places to stop on the way up the coast, the Camden/Rockport are is nice. Good mix of town stuff and woods/water stuff to do. We stayed at the state park there, which is reservable during your target time period, but there are several private parks around also.
