Beaumont Tx to Charlotte NC

E are planning a 8 day trip from Texas to NC. I am still looking at Routes by thinking of making. Stop in Mobile, AL, staying a day or so driving another 6 - 8 hours , finding a CG, etc.

Don't know if none has made this trip or something similar but open to any suggestion. I really wish there was a app or program that can let you plot a route and show distances along the way.

I-10 to I-65 to I-85. 953 miles. Google Maps, maps.google.com is very versatile. If you are looking for a campground in say, Mobile just type "campgrounds near Mobile,Al" in the search box. We've done your trip and have been from our home near Charlotte to near Mobile several times. There's a bunch of nice parks and pretty beaches around Gulf Shores, Alabama and Stone Mountain Park in Atanta is a nice with lot of nearby attractions. The best way through Atlanta for us has been to go right through on I-85 avoiding rush hours (9-10am or 2-3pm). I hope some of this helps. Good luck and enjoy your trip.

Google maps will do it for you.

I Google every road I'm going to travel on the night before we travel the next day. I print out the maps through cities for each intersection that looks like it could be a problem so I don't have to make a decision in two seconds about which exit to take.

I also use Google earth to look at the RV park we are headed for the next day. Helps to know where you are going.

On another subject. I'm an Elk and stayed at their campground in Beaumont last January. $20. They had slot machines and Bingo and a bar that you could actually sit at and SMOKE. I'm no longer a smoker but found it nice that for those that do smoke they could have it all.

Are you an Elk there? There are Elk campgrounds all over the U.S. and it makes it handy when you are going through an area that may not have any other campgrounds.

Also in Charlotte make sure to visit the NASCAR hall of fame and one of the local race shops. Michael Waltrip Racing has a very fan friendly shop. Lots to look at.
