Sorry, but I cannot remember the name of the rv park on the south-side of Calgary which is close to the commuter rail line. The rail line will take you directly to the Stampede gate (without a transfer). We used the train to visit downtown. The rv park was pleasant with full hookups. Hope this suggestion helps.

Calgary West really sucks. They advertised 30 amp power, which was bare minimum acceptable for our Class A. Turned out that the 30 amp power was shared on a pedestal by two motorhomes - totally unsuitable for summer weather.

It has been a few years but we stayed at Whispering Spruce CG, Balzac north of Calgary. Nothing special as I recall. Next to the highway.

We also did the stampede. Looking back we have had a better time, much closer to the action at smaller city rodeos.

Forget the whispering spruce, it's a dump and I'm not sure it's even there any longer.

There is a newer one south of the city near Okotoks that a friend stayed at and said it was very nice. There are also a couple west of the city near Cochrane that are nice parks with facilities for your class A.

This is one we have stayed at a few times. Has a nice little fishing pond.

Try RV Park Reviews and look at Okotoks and Cochrane. You will want to book WELL in advance as the region is a busy place during Stampede.

The Stampede is much more than just a Rodeo. The whole city is in Stampede mode from free pancakes breakfasts to the nitelife. Lots of fun to be had.

Here is the newest one near Okotoks.
These are private owned lots rented out by owners.

I stayed at Bow Rivers Edge RV in Cochrane summer of 2016 and drove to a nearby metro station which dropped me right at the Stampede gate. It is a clean park and quiet. I recommend wherever you stay to book early. I booked in January and only had a few spaces left. I also booked clubhouse seats in January and only a few seats available then for the three days I went to the stampede and caught the last clubhouse seat for the finals. I would recommend the clubhouse seats if you are going that far for events.

X2 on Bows River Edge. Wonderful CG with great walking path along the river.
