I can't understand why people won't face reality- the newspaper Tallahassee Democrat paper can also be checked out, RED TIDE entering panhandle-Sept 19 2018- Maybe condo owners don't want to scare people away especially with spring break coming soon, Yes Ft Meyer area is worse but there is traces in panhandle and if you have respitory issues it is not somewhere you would want to go

Santa Rosa RV Resort in Navarre, FL very nice. I’m heading back there in March. I’ve heard the Gulf Shores, AL area nice and I’m heading there for the first time in February.

That’s a nice place, and the state park across the bridge between Navarre and Pensacola is very spacious and nice.

Water is still cool for some, cold for others. Last year over a week, it was 40 on one night, up to mid eighties on an afternoon. Still better than up north.

Been in the panhandle in early April more than once. It is allot warmer than Wisconsin. You may see folks dressed allot warmer than you think is necessary.

So we should avoid ANY beach or area (Lake Erie has red tide blooms) that has had a detectable level red tide algae bloom regardless of what current testing shows?

Does a report of red tide from September of last year mean the waters in the area of the bloom are still contaminated, four months later?

Do past reports of a red tide bloom mean there is a high probability of a bloom in April 2019 when the OP would like to visit the area?

Red tide is some nasty stuff - toxins that kill fish and aquatic mammals can also poison you. I live about 8 miles inland and it still affects us.

A few have provided a link to the FWC and the red tide in FL - add it to your bookmark. The levels change daily and the wind direction can help or hurt.

I have been in FL all my life and this stuff survives even when the water cools down.

I guess all the marine information is wrong and as usual we have a few people that know it all, I say if you have respitory problems check closely the area you plan on visiting if beach time is in your planning
