We are considering going down to Lajitas into Big bend country with our 44 Entegra
We would be coming from Brownsville side
Little concerned about the conditions of the roads in the Big bend area
Anyone been through here recently that could advise us would be much appreciated

Can't tell you about the road conditions... but Big Bend is spectacular and ALWAYS worth the effort!

We visited Big Bend about the same time last year, and as others have said, it is spectacular. Roads within the park are generally excellent, but DO NOT take the 'short cut' from the entry station near Terlingua to the Santa Elena Canyon, even in your TOAD. It is unpaved and 'washboarded' so bad it'll make your teeth rattle for 10-12 miles, no matter how slow you go. Stay on the slightly longer paved route; it's just as scenic and you'll make much better time.

And, whatever you do, never leave your awning out & unattended while in Lajitas. There's an ever-growing pile of 'donated' awnings at the Maverick Ranch RV Resort. And tie down your lawn chairs, etc. at night. The winds can be brutal at times.

I'd also recommend the Lost Alaskan RV Park in Alpine. Really nice little park about 85 miles north of Terlingua, and well-located for visiting the many surrounding attractions in Fort Davis, Fort Stockton, McDonnell Observatory, Balmorrhea, Marfa, and Alpine itself. Alpine is a very cool little place, and you'll want to 'stock up' on all your provisions there, as there's next-to-nothing in Terlingua. And, if you are in need of any 'parts', the Ace Hardware in Alpine has the most amazing inventory of, well, everything that I've ever seen in a hardware store. Don't miss it.
