Birmingham Area

We are traveling to Spartanburg S.C.,
and will be staying in Birmingham Ala. For a few days. Anyone familiar with Birmingham South campground? Any information would be appreciated.

Birmingham South is an OK campground. It is convenient to most everything in the area including Galleria Mall. We have stayed there several times. We have not been there in the last couple of years. Last time we were there they badly needed to trim trees and repair their roads. Some of the spots were more level than others. Take a look at RV Park Reviews :: Pelham, Alabama ( AL ) - RV Parks and Campground Reviews . Doesn't look like things have improved since we were there last. Consider Oak Mountain State Park Alabama State Parks as an alternative or Hoover RV Park RV Park Reviews :: Hoover, Alabama ( AL ) - RV Parks and Campground Reviews.

Another great place just south (really close) to Birmingham is Tannahill (sp) State Park....

We stayed at Oak Mountain State Park once for a quick and convenient overnight stay and were very impressed. It's not far from Birmingham and it's now on our list of places we want to return to. They even had full hook-ups and a lot of nice hiking trails.

We stayed at the ball park in Hover for a place in town just off the interstate. It is sucure and in a good area. We were there when the team was not playing. We have stayed at Oak Mountain (very nice place but 5 miles from the gate to the camp ground with slow speed limits.) Tannehill is also nice but a few miles out of town.
