Bishop California / Owens River

Looking for a place we can get into with a 40 foot Dutchstar & towing a jeep, we are heading from Tehachipi to the Mammoth lakes area OR MAYBE heading over to Death Valley.....haven't really decided as of yet, anybody familiar with this general area ?.....we don't really HAVE to have hookups for a couple days just looking for a place to go exploring in the jeep.

Thanx in advance for any and all info you might be able to pass along.

Check out Browns Town, on south end of Bishop.

A little late perhaps to explore the higher trails.

mammoth lakes has a camp ground (on left before you get into town) that is open year round. But they can get a lot of snow.

Also McGee Creek has a park. Not sure if they are open all year. About 1/2 way between Bishop and mammoth. Edit, I just read they are closed for the winter.

Death Valley is really nice this time of year. Check out Mesquite campground just south of Scotty’s Castle.

Just south of Lone Pine is Bounders RV Park. Nice park. You can explore the Alabama Hill area just out of Lone Pine. Lone pine also has great movie museum. Then if you want to go to Death Valley it’s easy drive.

Check out Lone Pine Calf. We stayed at Boulder Creek Rv park.
Many interesting jeep trails in the area, you see old movie sets from the 20's. Mostly all Blm land so boondock just about anywhere.
When in Bishop stop at Schats bakery great fresh bread,
Rv parking and dog walk behind the fast food place across the street.
I hope this helps.

We are camped at the Fairgrounds in Bishop now. FHU or just W/E. Quiet and safe, right in town. Close to Schat,s bakery Great place to eat. If you like Craft Beer there's a very good one in town. Warm today, have one AC on! Bishop is lot warmer then Mammouth lakes witch is much higher in Alt. Happy Trails.
