Bluewater Key RV Resort
We are going to Key West for the first time and are camping at Bluewater Key RV Resort in Key West. Anyone camp here before and can share their experience? Any recommendations for must do's while there would be appreciated.
We can't wait to get there
Thank you

Never camped at Bluewater Key but my wife and I spent some time walking around it one day. Nice place, the sites were a decent size - fairly big for being in the keys. If you got one of the ones on a canal most of those have nice places to sit near the water. We left with a 'yep, we'd stay here' feeling about the place, but we haven't yet.

We stayed in 2016. Beautiful well cared for rv resort. we had a site on the bay maybe 75. beautiful. not a bad site, some a good for motorhome only pull in, make sure hook ups are on side you need them. if nothing else have breakfast at harpon harrys, and get key lime french toast.

We went to BWK three years in a row over the Christmas period. Our last trip there was seven years ago. It lives up to its reputation. As far as “must dos”, 1) Relax, 2) enjoy an adult beverage 3) relax.
Obviously, one must hit Duval St in Key West proper just for the experience. I like to fish, so we hired a guide for that. Might want to consider riding out to the Dry Tortugas.
Enjoy!

Be there at the end of April for a week. Let you know how it goes.

ZNT, we will just be missing you. We are going there in May.
Thanks for the pictures. Looks great. Most campgrounds around there looked real tight. Have to pay a little more for this one, but it seemed like it was worth it. Your pictures confirmed it. We can't wait.

Bluewater Key RV Resort
Here was one of our favorite sites. I think #44. We stayed there a number of years before they raised the prices through the tiki hut roof! I think this pic was in 2012 or 13. It is a lovely and relaxing place.

For those of you who have been there, what would you recommend...a bayside site or a canal site?
It seems like a no-brainer, but I can see the allure of a canal site too...

I would recommend a bay side site. Great views across Lower Sugarloaf Sound with good swimming in the clear water right off your dock. Nice sunrises right outside your front window.
Canal side views are 60 feet across the canal into the rear of someone’s house. However some do like that side.
Here’s a view from the bay side.

We spent a week over last Christmas. Off water in #36 but did not miss anything
Hogfish Bar and Grill is a must as is B.O's Fish Wagon in downtown Key West for fish tacos.

Which site depends on how long your going to be at Blue water. Most sites, canal, bay, inside are great depending on what you are looking for. One of the great things we did was take the shuttle to Key West. Pickup point is right outside Blue water and you have no worries about having to many adult beverages or Parking..
