Blythe Island Regional Park Brunswick GA

Does anyone know if smaller (22') RVs are allowed on the primitive sites at this park? I drove through the park and the primitive sites are spacious and much more secluded than the sites with hookups.

I'm planning a last minute camping trip for tomorrow and their office is closed today and they don't take online reservations.

Thanks!

Scroll down and you will see Primitive sites are tent only. There is a link for online reservations that can be accessed from the home page. Also the office is staffed 7 days with short hours on Sunday so if you call you can get answers. If they are busy they will let the phone ring.
Be aware of the 3% credit card use fee they initiated last year, it can get costly!.

Thanks for that. The online reservation system says only for reservations 72 hours in advance and I believe itís actually a request to reserve and not an actual reservation. When I called the park today I got a recording that said the office isnít staffed on Sundays. I was given the option of leaving a voicemail that would be returned in 24 to 48 hours. Not very efficientÖ. :-(

I looked at a google earth image of the campground and I could swear I saw an RV in the primitive area, so I was hoping they made exceptions to whatís posted on the website.

Iím in the Brunswick area right now and will either try calling in the morning or take a ride over to the park when it opens.

Thanks fir taking the time to send me that link. Appreciated!

Just in case anyone comes across this thread and is interested in Blythe Island Regional Park in Brunswich, GA, I wanted to update my original question.

I was finally able to connect with someone at the park. When calling their phone number the message is given that there is not enough staffing to answer the phone and a message will be returned within 24 to 48 hours. I decided to try email instead, and my email was replied to within minutes.

Sadly, I was told that RV's of any size are not permitted in the primitive areas. That was a great disappointment to me because the primitive sites are huge and secluded. Way nicer in my opinion than the full hook sites. Plus, there's a dump station in the park which would have made the primitive sites ideal.

Oh well.......... off to other adventures. Happy camping!

I don't know why it would be a disappointment it was pointed out on the web site that primitive sites are tent only.

Have you stayed in that campground? The campsites are spaced at a very generous distance apart with tropical foliage that isolates them and a canopy of live oaks and long leaf pines. The lake view sites are awesome. I've found Blythe Island Park to be one of the nicest campgrounds I've stayed at. After the influence of staying there for many years I bought a house on the island.
