Our camp last Thanksgiving in Panamint Valley, just north of Ballarat, CA.

Here's what camp looked like from atop the ridge behind us.

Now you know why we tow a Jeep Wrangler!

Abandoned campground on Simmons Lake, off of the old abandoned Cassair Highway.

June 2011, the old portion of the Cassair highway was overgrown and on several occasions thought we would need to back out. Very isolated, a perfect spot. We did this in our 21 ft, 1988 Toyota Dolphin. micro Class C.

Sorry for my ignorance, but where the heck is Simmons Lake and the Cassair hiway? That place looks awesome. OK, never mind I see you are in Alaska.

Here's another urban boondock in Tempe for Pat's Run last weekend.

Here is an older picture that I found. This is our previous coach, a 1991 Beaver Contessa 38' towing our enclosed trailer on a snowmobile trip up to the Uintah mountains in Utah.

Here is my boondock spot this weekend, thanks to the OP for the info. This is in the Agua Fria National Monument land, only about 45 miles north of Phoenix, right off I-17. We've had an unusually cool week here in central AZ, and Friday night the temps dropped to the mid 30's there. It's mid May, people! It was also supposed to rain, so I didn't want to drive my rig too far in on the dirt road, so I parked in the staging area right off the interstate. As the photo shows, AZ has had some interesting skies this week.

OK, thread revival post. It finally cooled here a little, so I took my rig out for a short trip to Agua Fria N.M. again. This time I drove further in to find a more isolated site. Not many sites to choose from here, especially for a large rig and if you desire levelness. But it's free, so who am I to complain?
