Bowling Green Kentucky
The wife and I will be making the trip to Bowling Green in a couple of weeks. We plan on visiting the Corvette Museum and the Plant which is the main reason for the trip. Cannot get reservations for the Corvette Plant since they are only doing Walk-Ins that week. But at least the plant is open!
We will be staying at the Bowling Green KOA which we already have our reservations.
While staying there we will have a car and plan to visit the Mammoth Caves.
Are there any other things of interest to see there, we also plan on driving up to Louisville and maybe stopping at Fort Knox. Also9 I understand that there is an Antique Gun Museum in Louisville that may be of interest.
If you have visited there what's your thoughts?
Regards,
RovinOn

Just south of Louisville is the City of Richmond. There are a number of wineries worth visiting. Worth the effort is a stop at the Woodford Reserve Distillery. It is one of the oldest distilleries in America. Just north of Richmond is Boonesboro, a original encampment of Dan Boone. There is definately no shortage of things to see and do in KY All of those places are just off I-75.

I just drove threw Bowling Green about a month ago. It was a Saturday& we just happened to come across the Corvette Museum. Very Nice. We also came across Idlebrocks shop/factory in Bowling Green. I don't know if there are tours there or not, but might be worth checking into. We went to Mammouth cave and did the historic tour. There are several tours of the caves & if you can make reservations in advance it may be worth it. We arrived there on a Saturday afternoon & several of the tours were sold out. We made reservations Sat for Sun. Cumberland Gap National Park is also a nice park we went to, it is East of Mammouth Caves. There is some Civil War history here if that interests youall. The campgrounds at Mammouth Caves appeared to be very nice also. We stayed at the Days Inn, we were not in our MH.

We were in the area back in June. We stayed up in Cave City, and visited Mammouth and Lincoln's Boyhood home which is a bit further north. We would not stay at the Cave City Jellystone again, but would visit the area. Didn't try and visit any of the Corvette stuff.

We've been to KY on a number of trips and there is plenty to keep you busy.
Last time we were near the Caves, we stayed at Nolin Lake campground which I believe is run by the Army Corps (Moutardier Campground). Sites right on the water and very quiet. Trees are loaded with red headed woodpeckers.
Mammouth Cave is very interesting but not for the claustrophobic (DW stayed in the MH). We've been there three times and did a different tour each time.
Corvette factory and museum are both great. Fort Knox is a few miles of the interstate but well worth the ride.
We also go out to western KY on Lake Barkely. Even more to do in Land Between the Lakes.

You're a bit off the Bourbon Trail, but there's a small distillery, Corsair, in Bowling Green worth going to.

You'll find Richmond off of I-75 south of Lexington. Boonesboro is between Richmond & Lexington. The Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington is well worth a visit.
About 22 miles south of Louisville off of I-65 you can visit the Jim Beam distillery in Clermont, KY. Go east from Elizabethtown to Loretto and you can tour the Maker's Mark distillery. If you're in Louisville you might want to stop by the Maker's Mark Bourbon House & Lounge. Also in Louisville a visit to Churchill Downs is always a good choice. While in Louisville you may enjoy a visit to the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory.
If you like chocolate with a touch of booze go by Rebecca Ruth Candies in Frankfort. They were the inventor of the Bourbon Ball Chocolate Candy. Goooood Stuff!!!

I'll second that! We visited the Buffalo Trace Distillery near Frankfort & I ended up getting RR's Buffalo Trace Distillery Bourbon Chocolate Candy for me & I got the Classic Liquor Assortment to give as a Christmas gift. The liquor'd candies are absolutely YUMMY! Don't be taken aback by the place - it doesn't look like a candy factory. It's located in downtown & is a 2 story white home with red shutters.

Best bourbon tour is Buffalo Trace Distillery. Went to Wild Turkey and they gave me a label to lick. Lincoln's first cabin is in Ky. somewhere.
