Breckenridge, CO in February

I am seeking advice on road/driving conditions when approaching Breckenridge from the west during winter times.

We are currently planning to spend 1 month RVing and skiing in Breckenridge in February next winter. We have done this twice before and know what we have to do RV wise once we get there, but we seem to have forgotten when the road start to climb and road conditions may deteriorate (depending on the amount of snow/ice).

We think that we remember that until we reached Grand Junction the driving was fairly good/safe as we was still at relatively low level. Does this sound about right?

Also - we didn't stop in Grand Junction for an overnight stop the past 2 times we went to Breckenridge, but we seem to remember that we did see campgrounds and truck stops on our way, so maybe this would be the place to make a stop and get ready for the climb the following day.

Any thoughts?

Where are you coming from? I drove to Grand Junction from So. Cal. one year in January and was in a raging blizzard from just east of the I-15/I-70 junction to almost Green River. Can be AWFUL and it is extremely remote so assistance can be a loooooong way off.

We would be coming from Las Vegas.

On our previous 2 trips we have been fortunate. No problems all the way to Breckenridge.

Last time we made an overnight stop on a small campground near Green River. No facilities other than electrical hook-up and sewer. It was cold but adequate for what we needed.
