The town of Panguitch UT is between the two parks and has several CG's to choose from. It's about a half hour from Bryce Canyon and an hour from Zion. Here's a link to reviews of the parks in Panguitch: Panguitch, UT Campground Reviews - Best of Panguitch Camping - Campground Reviews

We were at the KOA here this past August. There was an off-road rally the week we were there so the camp was pretty full. Nice park.

When we visited the area the first time we stayed in Kanab, UT which wasn’t close to either of the parks but allowed for shamrock-type trips to Bryce (about 80 miles), Zion (about 40 miles) and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon (about 90 miles) out of one park. It was the Corral park almost in the middle of town. Nice little park. (The miles are from my head and could be wrong)

Depending on your travel time/days and your driving preference I normally recommend that if time is limited to Stay in the Park you are visiting - BUT - often we have done like others and used the Hub and Spoke System of camping.

We will Often find a location that is central - usually costing Less - and that will allow us to enjoy the Drive to these Amazing Parks/Sites - understand that I Love to Drive - and we have often found that these Drives will expose us to Sites and Vistas that are often missed when we stay in the Park. I would also Add Page/Horseshoe Bend on the Colorado, to the sites that might be enjoyed from here, and if you are there early enough you may even be able to get a site there, as either your next stop or your last stop. I guess what I'm saying is there are No Wrong Choices - Do what works for you. -

While we have not stayed in Kanab, we have driven through it and think we would enjoy staying there - We generally do Utah in the Winter so the crowds and the Options are many, not few, like you will have in the Spring/Summer season. Keep in Mind that Zion is a Day Trip from Vegas and in Season is extremely Crowded.

One last note on Zion - there is a Northern section, Kolob, that is generally missed, visited by many fewer people, - https://www.nps.gov/zion/planyourvis...ob-canyons.htm - so if you have the chance - or if it works out you end up in the North be sure to try to see it - might just get lucky and not have the crowds.

Best of Luck,

I can almost guarantee that if you stay midway to both parks you'll only do the drive once. Those parks deserve at least three full days each.

Stay in Zion at Watchman campground with electric, water fill and dump station. You can get the free shuttle from there.

For Bryce - if you need hookups - then stay at Ruby's right at the park gate where the free shuttle stops. If you don't need hookups there are two very nice campgrounds in the park.

With all due respect, some of us like to drive more than others. We much prefer to keep the MH in a central location and day-trip to see things. Not only is Panguitch centrally located for Bryce and Zion, it is convenient to Cedar Breaks National Monument which is nearly as impressive as its bigger park siblings. And it's ONLY a ~100 mile drive to Capitol Reef National Park which isn't as well known as Bryce and Zion but which is spectacular in its own right. JMO

I agree with this.

A decent clean park is Bauers Canyon Ranch RV Park in Glendale. Pretty much in the middle of the two parks. Grassy, fairly quiet nights, full hookups. If you're a classic car freak, there is a "junkyard" on the north end of town that is full of neat stuff!!!!

We are currently staying at the KOA in Cedar City, $46/night and lots of room. Yesterday we took the 21 mile trip to Cedar Breaks. It was cold and windy but so impressive. The drive up was also beautiful. From there we drove to Bryce. It was truly amazing, but we should have allotted more time. Tomorrow will do the short trip down the I-15 from our camp to Kolub Zion. The KOA works great for these two parks, but for Zion, I would camp closer to Hurricane, UT. A good park is Willow Wind RV.

There weren’t many people at Cedar Breaks. Those that were there would walk or maybe run to the viewing point and snap a picture. It was nicer weather at Bryce and a lot more people, but not crowded.

Last month, we spent 4 nights at the Kaibab Paiute campground, located right next to Pipe Springs National Monument, AZ. It took us 1 hour in the toad to reach Zion and the GPS showed 110 miles to Bryce. $12.50 per night (Passport America rate, no time limit) FHU and the fastest WiFi we had our entire 2 month trip.

Most were doing Bryce, Zion and Coral Sands from this RV park, but we moved to Ruby's for Bryce, then on to Moab. Cell reception was good, all pull-thrus, very level and beautiful views of red cliffs in one direction and a valley to the south. Clubhouse, laundry and restrooms were spotless and there was a very large covered patio that stayed busy, especially during happy hour.

There was an Airstream rally at the RV park while we were there, and they seemed very happy with the park.
