If you head down to Lafayette there is Cajun Palms (cajunpalms.com), over to Baton Rouge there is Lakeside RV park (lakeside-rvpark.com and there are several casino campgrounds which are very nice also. There are many other private campgrounds which are very nice, do a search and have a good time.

We've been to Cajun country a few times and we just love it. The food, culture, music, and people are absolutely wonderful. We've stayed at Poche's Fishing Camp which is in Breaux Bridge and only a few miles from Lafayette. The staff is very friendly and the prices reasonable. You should also try RV Park Reviews :: Home for further info on this and other area parks.

Enjoy, wish we were headed there. If you like we can recommend restaurants, etc.

In Houma, La there is Capri Court. It's not fancy but is down in the Bayou. If you want a real, Airboat ride and not one of those touristie rides. Call Black Bayou Airboats

Airboat Swamp Tours in Houma, La. located in Bayou Black, Heart of the Cajun Country in.

There are many good campgrounds in cajun country. Come on down. We are glad you're coming. You need to plan to come during Mardi Gras season and experience some cajun Mardi Gras which is more family oriented than New Orleans. Plenty of good cajun food too.

Cajun Palms is great. It is located in Henderson right off I 10. Ifyou stay there, try Crawfish Town restaurant next door. Another good place is Lakeview Park located north of Eunice. They have live music on Saturday night. Wherever you go in Louisiana, we hope you pass a good time.

Now that sounds like fun. We also are headed through LA later this month and a side trip to the swamps would.be interesting.

Slick60,
You mentioned mid-LA. We stopped for the night at Nacatosh CG just of I-49 last week. It is in Nachitoches. For us this small town where Steel Magnolias was filmed is a most stop. Not because it has such a nice little downtown, which it does, but for the Catfish Supreme at Mamma's Oyster House on Front St.

The campground is ok, but not great. Some have complained of the truck noise from the adjacent truck stop, but it was not a problem for our stay. I would say it is fine for an overnight, and there is always the Catfish Supreme to bring us back.

If you choose to stay in Breaux Bridge make sure you visit the Cafe de Amis and if possible do it Saturday morning. Pretty good food and Zydeco music and dancing. Get there early. Real Cajun flavor.

Slick 60; My wife & I just got back from Caujun country. We stayed in 2 great campgrounds about 30 miles north of New Orleans. Fairview Riverside and also Fontainbleau... both great and very reasonable State Parks.
