California HWY 99 road conditions

We will be traveling from the Sacramento area to Fresno next Thursday/Friday. I heard HWY 99 had substantial construction/repair going on so just wanted to see if anyone has recently made the trip?

This may have information about road conditions. I traveled 99 several months ago and there were some lane closers but I don't remember specifics.

We avoid Hwy 99 at all risk.... too many big rigs, road construction/barriers and constant traffic.

We came from there in August, went down 5 to Stockton and crossed over to 99. There was a LOT of construction going on from Stockton south until about where 152 comes in. From there on it's great.

I traveled hwy 99 from Nicholas to Modesto 2 weeks ago. Moving along at 55 mph with my toad was relaxing. Yes it is slower than I-5. Yeah I hit some construction, but nothing I was not able to negotiate. Stopping at road side stands and scenery is something that I-5 does not offer.

There's road side stands and scenery on 99? Lived in Modesto since '91 and ain't seen any yet, just sayin'. I personally can't stand driving 99, rough road, constant construction, impatient and rude drivers and rush traffic.
