California Rest Area Water

I am planning a trip to Kings Canyon. Looking for a place to get some freshwater before reaching the campground. Normally I just get water in the park but they said the water supply is low and to bring water if possible. The water is not for drinking just for the bathroom. I am going to use the dump station at the rest area on my way home. Made me wonder if I could get water there as well. Any help would be appreciated.

Fill your fresh water tank at home before you leave

Weight of full tank is NOT going to affect MPG or handling

water at most Dump stations is NON-Potable

When are you going?

Several fires were started near there a couple days ago when a lightening storm went through the area.

It's so weird being the same age as old people.

I might do that. My water tank is up front pretty far. If I fill it (216LB), it adds 120LB of tongue weight which is not trivial in my opinion. It also makes me drag on the way out of the driveway so I have to move to the street before adding the water. It is a short trip so I am thinking I can live with about 12 gallons, which would add 55 pounds of tongue weight.

Hmm... We are supposed to be near Grants Grove. The articles I just read said the fires are on the south side near Buckeye Flats and Potwisha. They are fairly small right now but growing according to the article. There is nothing on Cal-Fire or Inciweb about these. I checked both a few days ago but hadn't done a web search until a few minutes ago. I will monitor the situation and make a decision later in the week. I will be super sad if I have to cancel. Thanks for the heads up.
