Camden Hills State Park (ME) in mid Sept?
I'm thinking about a trip to the central Maine coast in mid September. Camden Hills State Park looks like a nice base camp location, and it appears to be one of the few state parks with electric sites.
I noticed that Maine state park campgrounds go to first come, first served for all sites on Sept. 12. What are the odds of pulling in late morning or early afternoon and finding an open electric site at this campground? I have a small rig (18' trailer) so size is not a big concern.

My guess probably good with kids back in school
Maybe you call 1 or 2 days before checking in and get a sensis from the staff.
Beautiful area, lots of stuff to do.
There's private campgrounds in the area also as I remember.

We drove through there last week going up to Mt. Battie. There were some empty sites although we were there about 11am and it is possible some checked out and new parties weren't there yet.
We stayed at Megunticook, just down the road so that could be a backup. Very nice campground. If you do, when you check in, buy a can of the Blue Lobster Blueberry Infused Wine - surprisenly good.

Been there a few times. Should be no problem with a small unit.

We rolled in on a Thursday about 1 pm and got one of the few electric sites left. Electric sites stayed full through the weekend except for one or two right by the dumpster. Plenty of empty non-electric sites, although many of them looked like they would only accommodate tents, vans, truck campers, or very small trailers. We left early on Sunday morning, so no idea whether the electric sites cleared out by Monday.
