Campground around Barber Motorsport park

Hello, Looking for recommendations for rv camp ground with ez access off state highways. Prefer a pull-thru site for a 43 ft'er and a small toad with 50 amp service. Oh and dog friendly, we have a 47# dog. Looking to book for March of 2023 and just for a few days. Want to visit the museum. Thanks in advance

You do realize that the dog will have to stay in the camper while you are visiting there...right? Or you can make plans to board the dog somewhere. Barber does not allow pets at their facility.

We often stay in the Pell city area when traveling west. Safe Harbor RV is the spot we like the best. Lakeside Landing and Marina is OK.

yes, we are not ones to take dogs into places, but wanted an RV park that takes a dog more then the small ones...

Thanks for the recommendations...I'll check them out, but we're not too fussy, However it's nice to have some that have been there before. Thanks Bill n Lyn

We stayed at Hoover Met Sports Park when we went to Barber. It’s a big sports complex with RV parking in one of the parking lots. It has full hookups. It was a good choice.

Here’s the link:

I've looked into this a bit. There isn't really a park close at al to the museum. I had in mind dragging a load of grandsons down there for a couple of days. We'd have to drag a bigger toad or plan on uprooting the coach to go back and forth. A friend races at the track down that way and said he'd look into what sort of camping (probably dry) they might have at the track if we went during an event. Speaking of which, I haven't heard back from him in a while now.

The Hoover Met Center RV lot is 25 miles from Barber and that may be the closest.

I have stayed at Barber several times during events. It is all dry camping.

This place is nothing fancy but very quiet and pleasant, except for race weekends. It would seem to tick all of the boxes that you listed. They have a huge fire pit and are on a river. Way easy access off of the main highway. I've tent camped there a couple of times for Vintage Motorcycle weekend at Barber. IIRC, about a half hour from Barber via highway and interstate. If you've never seean the motorcycle museum, you are in for a real treat. It is truly world class. If you go on Vintage Weekend(early October) they open up the restoring shop and you can talk with the techs and get an idea of how it all works. This is all old info as I've not been there for a number of years and I understand that they have improved the what was an awesome experience.

Enjoy.

Thanks for the info. My buddy is a local who races there but has zero interest in camping and so didn't really know when I asked him.

I have never stayed at the Hoover Met, however it is reputed to have very good security in addition to the full hookups. I like lots of security when in a metropolitan area.

You just jump on 459 and run up to 20 then east one exit and off to the right then right again and again and you are there. Buckees is across from the road down to the motorsports park. If you have not been to a Buckees, you need to stop and go in.
