You can stay at the Casino with children. They aren't allowed IN the casino.....unless there's been a change.

Here's a couple other options:
-- KOA just West of St. Louis in Eureka off I-44 right by Six Flags - ~30 min drive to downtown
-- Cuivre River State Park - out Hwy 61 - ~60 min drive to downtown. This is probably too far out but it is a nicer park.

This is just my 2 cents as a person who lives here. Crime being the issue here , if it were me & I really wanted to stay close to downtown, I would choose the casino . It really pains me to say this . Avoid looking to much like a tourist be aware of your surroundings & have fun . The criminals are looking for easy targets . Don't look like an easy target .

We really like Cuivre river state park near Troy Mo., but it is a pretty long drive to the city, although I drove it for a few years when I worked for TWA.
