I'm the OP. For my half way point, I ended up booking at Cave Country Campground next to Mammoth Cave National Park. Enterprise Rent-a-Car picks up at the campground as a nice bonus and the campground has good reviews with full hook-ups. As suggested above, Bowling Green isn't too far away and we plan on visiting all the Corvette stuff (museum, factory, race track), along with the National Park.

Glasgow is just a few miles up Highway 90 from the campground. When you're in the area you might want to check out the entertainment at the Plaza Theater https://www.historicplaza.com/
The Watermill Restaurant in Cave City is a good place for home cooking, not fancy and friends we've taken there were surprised at the price.
