Campgrounds in Eastern North Carolina?

This is our first winter as full-timers. We spend summers in Pennsylvania but are looking for a nice campground in Eastern North Carolina for mid October - April. We have a 34', 50 amp motor home and two medium sized dogs. Looking for a place near grocery stores and local attractions (college-theater, concerts), museums, movies, mild hiking. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

If you end up in SE NC, the KOA in Wilmington is solid. There are a number of them in Hampstead/Topsail but I haven't been to any of them. The state park at Carolina Beach is nice but has very few full hookup spots and they lock the gate at night.

Welcome to the forum!

You may want to post this question in the Southeastern Region Carolina Campers sub-forum as that is predominately perused to those that are local to this area.

There are 3 nice state parks near Raleigh, but not for full timing and I found several very small but nice parks on https://freecampsites.net/ and they have hit my to-do list.

Welcome to IRV2. We live in Virginia and have traveled in our RV in the southeastern states extensively. Unless you are really set on spending your winter in eastern NC, I might suggest you consider Myrtle Beach, SC. A lot of folks from up north spend the winter there. It is not far from NC but it has a lot to offer. Plenty of RV parks that are open year round. You have your choice of several nice RV parks right on the ocean and several that are in the area but off the ocean. There are many things to do in the area. Charleston, SC is a day trip away.

While not as warm in the winter as places like Flordia, it will be generally warmer than much of NC. I think you might also find many of the nicer RV parks in NC closed during the winter.

Just something to consider.
