Campgrounds in the Long Beach, CA area

Hello Everyone,

We are looking to spend some time (a week or 2) in the Long Beach, CA area to visit family. We don't want to take our 45' motor home into Los Angeles but would like to stay somewhere that is a comfortable drive in our toad to the Long Beach area.

We would like full hook-ups but don't require other amenities since our coach is self-sufficient. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much,
Leslie & Stuart

Only park in Long beach is Golden Shore. Adjacent to the Queen Mary and near the Aquarium. Also close to Catalina Island ferries. Very tight squeeze for a large rig. Have to make early reservations. They have a website. Dockweiler Beach in El Segundo is on the beach and under LAX flight plans. Also a little tight. Parks in Orange County near Disneyland have more to offer as far as things to do. Newport Dunes in Newport Beach is also a little tight but on a lagoon. It is very pricey. Parks close to Disney and Knotts are OK and reasonably priced considering proximity to attractions. Go to campgroundreviews.com and search for cities of Anaheim, Long Beach etc. The ones with a lot of and recent reviews tell it like it is.

Thank you for the advice. We managed to get a reservation at Golden Shore for 2 weeks in mid - October. Since our family lives right on the shore near the Queen Mary this will be perfect! We appreciate the advice.

There is the big Mfg RV show in Pomona in Oct about that time. Probably the biggest RV show on the west coast. There is Frank Bonelli Park and Fairplex park right next door and not bad parks.
