We arrived at GNP on Thursday and staying at Glacier Campground (do not stay here). Sites are stacked and you would not fit. Long story.

Anyway, if and when you get in to drive the Road to the Sun, you can go as far as Avalanche Road ( a bit past McDonald Lodge). Between about 9:30 am and 3:30 pm they are turning people away because "it is too crowded". They are only allowing the lots to get 40% or less full.

The red trolleys are not running this year and the campgrounds in the park are closed.
As far as other places, please be aware that the First Come, First Served campgrounds and others are packed and iffy to get in. We checked some out- these are the state parks which are lovely.

@LovesTo Wine: Thanks for that update. It confirms for me our decision to put of Glacier for another year (or at least until later this year). Things just looked a little too iffy for my tastes due to the whole Covid-19 thing.

Maybe we're just not meant to go to Glacier. We've hit many of the other National Parks on the West side but we've tried twice before for Glacier and it caught on fire each time. Now a pandemic. I'm beginning to think that Glacier doesn't want us there...

Another shout out for the KOA — it was one of the best we have
stayed at.

sisher99-
I know the feeling. Later this year may be better, however, they may be getting snow again the first of September. GNP is a very short season like Yellowstone. We did enjoy the area and drove down to Bigfork one day and looked around the town and also the Hungry Horse dam. We began early Christmas shopping and stopped at the Glacier Distillery. They are local and have a fun variety of items of which they make.

Just an update, all of East Glacier entrances (including Many Glacier, Two Medicine, Cutbank, Chief Mountain, St Mary) are CLOSED for the rest of the season due to Covid by order of the Blackfeet Nation. This will force everybody to the West side of the park.
