I will look at this park, closer, but it looks like the KOA park in Huntley (Chicago Northwest KOA) is better suited for big rigs and site amenities. They both look like they are about the same distance from Oak Park.

I said "KOA in Huntley", but I meant Union.

You can camp in the McCormick Place parking lot just south of downtown Chicago. I think it's about 40 bucks per day. Big rigs in there no problem. Security patrols the lot. NO HOOKUPS. It's just a parking lot. Within walking distance of the lakefront trails, a nice beach, and about a $7 Uber to North Michigan Ave. when we did it this past summer.

It

We stayed there last August [KOA in Union]. It works there well with big rigs and there are activities for the grandkids. Sites include sewer and 50amps. Sites are narrow but it is a doable camping site.

Thanks for the info... That's what I'm looking for... This is probably where we will stay, so having info from someone who actually stayed there, is great.

Did you go into Chicago. Our daughter lives in Oak Park (west of Chicago) and we will be traveling back and forth for a week.... Would like to avoid the toll roads...

One more suggestion, We lived in Clarendon Hills for 20 years just west of Oak Park & the closest RV Resort (I say resort with a little hesitation!) is Leisure Lakes in Plainfield, IL.
It's just off I-55 at the I-80 intersection, it's a huge place with full hookups.
The places being mentioned are a long way from the city & traffic is really a problem when going Northwest.
Google this place before you decide.
Good Luck

Hollywood Casino in Joliet has an RV park that will accommodate your big rig. Close to I-55 into the city too.

Leisure lakes looks really cool, but last I knew it was members only.

Hadn't seen this one... They look like a "membership" resort. Do they rent by the week?

Did a little more research... Looks like they may rent to Good Sam members. They don't have very good reviews. Lots of complaints about noise, dust, and rudeness...

They rent sites weekly or daily, the guy that runs it Mike is a no nonsense guy, he's ok as long as you just do what your suppose to do & most people get along just fine.
I used to belong to the resort but have moved to Naples. The only time you can't rent a site is during NASCAR week in late Sept but that might have changed, it's a decent place.

There are new RV campgrounds within the Cook County limits in a few of the Cook County Forest Preserves system parks. To my knowledge though, they do not accommodate bigger rigs like yours. You might verify though. From a location perspective these are ideal. It'd be an easy Uber ride to a number of train stations. http://fpdcc.com/camping/
