Camping at St. Andrews State Park, Florida
I spent 6 days 21 May - 27 May camping at St. Andrews
St. Andrews is in the Florida Panhandle Just East of Panama City Beach
Formerly a military facility it is now a state park. It has a fishing pier that juts out into the Gulf, rock jetties and beach fishing there is also a Pier just for fishing on the canal as well as boat launches. You can rent canoes, kayaks and jet skis. You can also take a tour on Shell Island (haven't been there yet)There is Gulf swimming sheltered by the jetty and a lagoon for swimming.
Animal's you may see is Deer, fox, raccoon, possum and multitude of water birds as well as other birds.
Campsites range from just large enough for a tent to 45 foot for the larger RVs. All have water and electricity, a must for the heat.
Your campsite maybe in the open or totally private except from the road where you back in, there are a few pull through.
There is a camp store and as normal the prices are very high there. I found the cheapest ice on Thomas drive North the first ice vending machine charges you $1.75 for 20 pounds and the second just up the street maybe 2 mile the ice is $1.25 for 20 pounds, the vending machine near the beach charges $2.00 for 20 pounds
Plan to make reservations well ahead of time as it is a very popular site.
