Camping in California

We are scheduled to go to Oceanside CA on Sunday, Dec. 14 and stay for a week at a park. Can anyone provide updated info on 1) whether RVs can enter the state, 2) if stores are open in that area, especially groceries, and 3) if there are any special orders in place?

You need to get directions from the state. In summary, campgrounds should be requiring minimum 14 day stays, and you should stay at the RV unless you are doing one of a small list of needed activities (medical, food, etc.). Your campground should have contacted you.

RV parks in CA have been deemed essential for, residents, stays of 14 days or longer, full timers seeking shelter or people traveling for essential services or business.

If you feel that you meet that criteria, carry on.

Grocery stores will remain open and will restrict capacity to 20% of maximum. Expect to wait in line prior to entering the store.

Try calling the park.

Call the park to be sure but [moderator edit] California has decreed that you must remain in quarantine for a minimum of 14 days. Take that for what it's worth.......

A few other orders/recommendations etc.
Restaurants are open for take out and delivery only.
Museums, parks, gyms, salons are closed.
Masks/face coverings are required when inside a building other than your house, or outdoors if a 6’ distance cannot be maintained between people from different households.
Visiting with anyone outside of your household is forbidden, prohibited, strongly discouraged, not recommended...

As far as a 14 day quarantine for out of state visitors, there’s more or less a 21 day quarantine baked in the cake for anyone in the state.

You'll find most private parks open here. They will have the pools, spa and public areas mostly closed at least until Dec 28 when the new lockdown is supposed to end. We'll see.

If you are staying at Paradise by the Sea, be prepared for cramped quarters. Same with Oceanside RV Resort....awning touching neighbors slideout camping.

Pala and Pechanga Casino RV parks nearby are much better.

All state parks and campgrounds are suspened at the moment. Forest Service campsites are closed as well.

Oceanside is in the So Cal restricted area for the covid lockdown. We dropped to 9% ICU capacity today.

Have fun!

Thanks much

Thank you all for your contributions .... just don't want to create an unnecessary issue by traveling.

various parks have opened and closed during this covid thing, so as mentioned above, call the park(s) in question, although if you have reservations you would most likely have been notified if they were cancelled.

But having just driven across the country and back in 10 days and 14 states (hwy 40 and 85 out and 85 and 20 back) I saw no evidence of any concerns about who or what is entering any state along the way including Ca, nor have I heard of any “check points”. And I don’t have Ca plates on my coach and the trailer and car has Va plates. Not to say it couldn’t happen, but it hasn’t yet.

Because you are going to a heavily populated area, I’d stock up on the food and supplies you like/want/need so you won’t be faced with shortages due to panic hoarding (it happed before) and you won’t have to enter stores unnecessarily. We didn’t eat one meal out or enter a grocery store in over two weeks on the road and always paid at the pump after disinfecting the equipment. I’m not overly worried about covid but exercising “an abundance of caution”....
