Camping in Connecticut

Does anyone know of an in-expensive place to camp in Connecticut, I am use to paying around $400 a month but can't seem to find a place up there for less than $750 a month. My second grandchild is due in July and I really need to be there for my daughter, any advice would help. Thank you

Where in Ct......got to realize the people in Ct think it is an honor for them to sell or provide anything for somebody....and should want to pay dearly for this honor.....why do you think the economy is still on the decline up here...they drive everybody out...Chuck

Pretty certain you are not going to come close to what you are used to paying. But, if you could give us an idea of where you need to be we could be more precise with some info.

I'm looking as close to the Norwich area as possible, right now I am booked in Salem and will probably stay a night or two dry camping in the casino lot but, but if the baby is late I will need to find another place to extend my stay.

And they have ask campground owners to report anyone from out of state that is there over 30 days. They want to treat them as a resident and tax them.

State Park is the only thing that will come close in price, and only a few have water and electric plus dumping station. Saltrock is the closest one.SALT ROCK CAMPGROUND, CT - Campground & Camping Details - ReserveAmerica - [CT]

I have yet to find a campground worth going back to at any price. I was born and raised there but I agree with most of the negative comments. Strawberry Farms was about the best but it is family oriented and very expensive. You pay for all the amusement rides. Pay close attention to the reviews on rvreviews.com. I read a lot of comments about rude park owners. Ct has never been known as a welcoming state for tourists. The state parks have not been upgraded in 40-50 years so electric service of any kind will be rare. Forget about 50 amp service. Normandy farms in Sullivan Mass. has good reviews and a lot of return customers, but with traffic and unfamiliar roads that will be an hour away. There is a campground in Bradford but it is a parking lot designed for contract workers at $40 a day and up. Good luck and congratulations on the baby.

I went by to look at mineral springs camp ground near stafford springs. Nice place for only about 450 a month and it includes electric and sewer. Stafford is right off 84 half way between Hartford and Boston. Nice area

If there is the option of staying at your daughters for part of the time see if you can get storage parking at one of the high end parks. Unless they are significantly different than what I have seen they have storage space for people who are only there part time but do not have at home storage. Significantly cheaper.
