Camping with boating in LA or MS

Our friends have a boat. We have a TS Motorhome. Where is a good place for both of us to meet where they can stay in their boat while we stay at the campgrouds? Looking for a place along I 10 in Louisiana or Mississippi.
We are coming from Houston. They are coming from Mobile.

Grapevine, TX is very nice

I thought I would reply to my own thread with a great place to go if you have a boat (or not) and want to camp on the water. The Vineyards Campground and Cabins on Grapevine Lake
It will not work for the Louisiana, Mississippi trip, but it is very nice if you get to the Dallas, TX area.

Hey Master,

Seeing as you are getting an overwhelming amount of responses to your post I'll throw out two SP's in LA. Bayou Segnette in Westwego (across the river from New Orleans) is a very nice COE like CG, very large, level, paved backin sites, W & E only. $18 per night plus the recently inflated reservation fee. Great park in a very good location for visiting NO (use the Algiers Ferry). They have a boat launch in the park and a very nice fish market next door.

Second option is across the lake in Mandeville off of I-12 vs I-10, Fontainebleau SP. I don't remember seeing a boat launch but it is right on the lake so there must be one somewhere. If you decide on this one, you want to be in the 'old campground' vs 'new'. The old has been upgraded with new utilities and pavement, so old is new and new is old at this park. Same deal on the $6 bucks for a walkup reservation making a one nighter not worth it.

Bob

There are several Corp of Engineer campgrounds along the Tenn-Tom (Tennesee-Tom Bigbee Waterway. It runs from Amory in northeast MS to Demopolis, AL. Your friends could take their boat up the waterway while you go to the campground.

In Louisiana, Lake Bruin State Park is a nice campground. Great sites, nice boat launch, and good fishing. It is located in the Northeast corner of the state off of US Highway 65. Toledo Bend has two nice parks, the North and the South Park, both are very nice and the Lake can have some of the best fishing in the State.

RV/Marina Hollywood casino in Bay St. Louis, MS. has a nice RV park. I don't know about the marina but it must be okay if it compares to the RV park.
