Camping with Verizon or WIFI near Port Angeles, WA

The family and I will be visiting Olympic National Park in mid June next summer and I need a place to camp for a few nights near Port Angeles that has WIFI or Verizon 4GLTE (US or Canada).

I am really interested in Salt Creek Campground but the reviews for Verizon are mixed.

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Fred

We have AT&T and the signal was very poor while camping at Salt Creek. It is a wonderful CG, but cell coverage is terrible.

Verizon is about all there is on the West end of the Peninsula. Some places are better than others for reception. Try the Elwha Dam RV park, it is closer to town but not as pretty as Salt Creek.

Stayed at Salt Creek and had very poor reception with both AT&T and Verizon. Incidentally, both were picking up Canadian cell phone towers only. Very limited to no reception inside Olympic National Park itself. Beautiful views from the campground, however.

Just stayed 3 days at Salt Creek. Verizon reception was very good to good in park for us. We were in the older section, not in the thick trees, no hookups. Don't know how the recep was down in the open area that overlooks the Straight. Really didn't have many phone problems, but we don't use them for much other than calls and some news apps. You will get Canadian pop up texts as you drive along the roads NW of Port Angeles!! Seems like the junk follows you everywhere!!

In 2013, we found Verizon reception was horrible all over Washington state. Call them for updates. If you need wi-fi, it may pay to temporarily upgrade to Verizon's top speed and data plan for a month.

Can you do without for a couple nights? I'd rather stay at Salt Creek than have phone service. Pretend like it's the 'olden days'.

It's 2018 now (!!), and Verizon has worked well for us all over the state with few exceptions. Any phone service is give and take when out in the boonies. Have found when LTE services aren't showing up, texts and phone calls work almost always. As I stated earlier, you should not have any major problems with Verizon in the Port Angeles area, except for the Canadian cross overs that happen. We use our phone hot spot for "wifi" substitute and other than possible slower downloads occasionally, service is good!!!

I'm not a fan of KOA but there is one just east of P.A. which should have good Verizon coverage. Also might try Gil-Gal (?) in Sequim.
I agree that Salt Creek County Park is an awesome park right on the Straits and does have limited Verizon coverage.
If you have to dial 911 from there you're likely to be answered by RCMP in Victoria. You can ask but it's a long story and the dog is fine. Mike
