Campland San Diego Grows 120 New Spots
https://www.campland.com
Possibly one of the best coastal SoCal campgrounds just made a deal with the city of San Diego that will allow it to grow by 120 new spots for at least the next 5 years
The story is long and complex, so summary:
DeAnzaCove, a mobilehome park next door to Campland on Mission Bay closed. - The land was returned to the city. - The 70 acres is covered 167 abandonded mobile homes. - The city had inadequate funds to attain the ultimate goal - returning the land to natural marsh.
Campland offered $8million to clean-up the land in-trade for 5 years of free use of the land as more campground. The city accepted late today.

Obviously a good thing for anyone that couldn't get in during the peak months...and a good thing for the city with new revenues and clean-up of the dilapidated mobile homes. There are those in several camps that fought this, but in the end, the city could not bank the activists demands.

I'm interpreting the article to mean the Campland sites will be created in addition to the already existing 260 site Mission Bay RV park. The article did not clearly specify.
That's an awful lot of additional sites to share that small beach..
I prefer MBRV due to its much quieter and although there are always children it's much more controlled and secure feeling

MBRV is separate and reportedly uneffected.
And interesting that you prefer MBRV, being a rather parking lot style facility:

The for-sure part of DeAnzaCove for camping is beach on 3 sides.
What was not reported on was DeAnzaCove's other part (away from the beach). The two parts are separated by MBRV.
We'll see what happens.

There was a rumor awhile back that Chula Vista RV Park was going to close. Is it true?

It actually closed for a bit recently...then reopened for an indefinite time.
A new bay front convention center is planned that will impact the KOA, but that has not yet hit:

Pretty pricey. I tried for a weekend in August but sold out. Mid-week for the least expensive site was $135/night up to $213/night.

Ya... It's a sacrifice I make for a quieter enviorment...
I find it much easier to deal with the older crowd and the families with young kids as opposed to the teen acitvities and loud (mostly undesirable) music...
Not knocking it...
Just me getting old
