OVERNITE RV PARK in AMARILLO, TEXAS will meet all your conditions. Ask for the row way in back and all you will here are some cows eating grass . . . if they show up.

Depending on the weather we stop at Oasis. It is on the west side of Amarillo with a good fuel stop. Big level pull throughs and all the amentities. I would not stay too long, but its a sure bet for one or two nights. It has full hook ups, laundry, pool and private baths.

If however, the weather is going to be below 70 at night, we stop at one of the Hwy Rest stops southeast or west of Amarillo and dry camp for the night. We are always just passing through and only pay to camp if we need full hoop ups.

Oh my gosh this is easy.

Amarillo Ranch RV Park
1414 Sunrise Drive
Amarillo, TX 79104

(806) 373-4962

Check out "http://bigtexan.com/"...they'll come TO YOUR SITE in a LIMO and take you back and forth...whatta restaurant!

Both places within several blocks of each other ALONG I-40...we've stayed there every time we commute to Denver.

Definitely a hi point of traveling.

Oh No! take the time and go to Palo Duro Canyon and camp for several days. The second largest canyon in the US. You will not be disappointed)

X2 Palo Duro. An short drive just south of Amarillo.

We stopped there after our visit to the Grand Canyon, but it would be a good place to "prime the pump" for canyon viewing.

I thought he wanted a sort of quick stop on the way. I agree you cant beat Palo Duro for a slower pace. We love it and spend several days there each year. Not if we are in a hurry though.

We ate at the Big Texan and then stayed in their parking lot for the night. They said we were more than welcome to stay there.

Thank you for these suggestions. We'll be going thru Amarillo late July.

As a side note, I went to 2nd and 3rd grade there, in the early 60's. Everyone was building a bomb shelter in their back yards due to the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Thanks all for the info. We won't have time to really appreciate palo duro this trip but will put it on the list for a future trip. Probably will stop in at Amarillo ranch and eat a steak at Big Texas. Thanks All !! This will be our first big trip with our new to us Class C. Wish us luck
