Cherokee Campground in Ga.
Has anybody stayed at Cherokee Campground, just northeast of Helen , Ga.??? Also how about Jenny"s Creek?? We are going to the area and want to be happy!!!! My wife is looking over y shoulder, so I am careful.
We are going in a 40 ft MH and want to stay in the area for 1 week. Any suggestions on other or better campgrounds. We like 50 amp, full hook up. Thanks , the ever wondering, wandering Muffin Man.

Jenny Creek is pretty much a permanent settlement RV trailer park. Pretty tight . It is on a main route north of Cleveland. Never stayed there and I don't think we would.
Not familiar with the Cherokee CG location but it is in a beautiful area when the leaves turn.
Yonah Campground is between Cleveland and Helen. On the side of Yonah Mountain. Have not stayed there either but we do travel to the area quite a bit. Yonah CG is closer to food and sites both in Helen and in Cleveland. Hiking trail on the mountain if you are into that. Army Rangers had a training area there and some interesting places to climb around like the Rock Face, the Uppers and Lowers.
As a personal POI, my wife who is now a MS victim climbed the rock face years ago along with a number of us training there. She is in a wheelchair now, but likes to see the mountain when we head up that way.
Yonah can be seen from as far south as I-85 and US441,
(sorry I tend to run on when discussing areas I like and enjoy being in)

We stayed in Yonah Mountain a few times in a 24 foot TT. It was tight getting to the back sites. I now have a 37' DP and would not go to Yonah Mountain in it. We went to Hiawassee (Bald Mountain CG) last summer and had no issues with the CG we stayed and will also plan a trip to Blue Ridge in the near future. If you do go somewhere in that area, do NOT take the road directly through Helen and then proceed north. The hairpin turns and steep climb coming out of Helen on SH75 are crazy.

We stayed several months in Yonah Mountain Campground in 2014 in a 39 ft. 5th wheel and enjoyed it very much. What was enjoyable to us is that we met several of the permanent residents that live in the back section and played board games in the rec hall and made a few friends. They also had church services on most Sundays. The lots in the back are privately owned and well kept. It is nothing real special, but we enjoyed it at that time.
Unicoi State Park & Lodge is near Helen and is quite nice also. There are other parks around also, but none at that time in Dahlonega, GA, which is where we eventually bought a place.
Thanks,

Her job, as my GPS, is to arrange our travels. I am the part time driver, and trophy husband. It is a struggle, but I do my best!

If you are willing to be 30 minutes from Helen, we've stayed twice at the big rig friendly Riverbend Campground a little south of Hiawassee, Ga and would definitely go back. Here are blog posts about the campground and the area.
