I am so glad I read about Cherry Hill Park. We came for 10 days and extended 7 more. We would ask to stay longer but they want to do some maintenance.
We are having the greatest time, I LOVE DC. The park is higher priced than our usual and I was not excited about the traffic noise when we arrived.
But, we aren't here much and I'm so tired I sleep like a rock, I don't even hear the traffic. There is just SO much to see and do. All these fabulous museums! Barb at the CHP is like a firehose of knowledge, we learned so much from her talk, we took a night time tour the park offers which was beautiful and informative. I do like the system of charging everything to your site. We have had soup and sandwiches at their cafe a couple times, quite tasty. They had a water filter I have been searching for several months in their RV store. There is a beautiful park, Teddy Roosevelt Memorial that is on an island with some nice short hikes. There are memorials and history everywhere.
My husband went to the Air and Space Museum *for the entire day and didn't see all of it* I went to the African American Museum and the Holocaust Museum that day, I had a splitting headache from holding back tears all day. Meals at the various Federal buildings were great, especially the Dept of Agriculture. Today we went to the Eastern Market. We have only paid for a couple things, the Bible Museum and the National Cathedral. The National Shrine of Immaculate Conception does not charge and the mosaics are stunning gorgeous, the whole church is gorgeous, we had a nice tour. The Library of Congress is just so beautiful. So nice to train and Circulator bus all day (on senior rates) and never look for parking. Everybody should go to DC.
