Cody, WY to Boseman, MT
Are the roads through Yellowstone Motorhome (40') friendly??? It seems far shorter to take Highway 20 through the park and come up to Livingston on 89 from Yellowstone to catch 90 East. If not RV friendly, then I guess you have to go to Billings and catch 90 East?????

Seriously, the roads are just fine.

By the way, I would recommend spending the day at the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody:
Buffalo Bill Historical Center
We thought we could do it in a couple of hours. Too much really, really neat stuff to see. Very well done.

Thanks for the info...the BB Museum is why we are going to Cody....we were there about 20 years ago...looking forward to seeing it again. All the mapping programs take you back to Billings to catch I-90....might be faster????

Don't forget, with a 40 foot coach and toad, there are not that many places to pull off the road that are not taken up by tourists. There are no shoulders from where I went from Cooke City to Gardner. Have to keep your eyes on the road. Sometimes the tourists just stop in the road when they see something of interest. FYI~

According to my mapping software, the route through Y'stone will take you an extra 30 minutes (not taking into account all the scenery stops). You will also be charged an entrance fee.
Last summer and in 2006, there was a lot of construction on the East entrance road but the website says that project is done.
But I would avoid Dunraven Pass in a MH. My route would be:
- Cody to Fishing Bridge and make a right
- at Canyon, make a left
- at Norris Junction, make a right
- follow that road through Mammouth and into Gardiner, MT

We were in the Cody/Yellowstone area in May. We will go thru Yellowstone next time with 40 footer and toad. If you stay at the Ponderosa Camp Ground very short walk to Museum. Ask Larry for best travel routes when leaving as he has an RV.

This is the most helpful info I've found on driving YNP.
http://www.rvcruzer.com/ystonervroutes.htm
We just got back 3 weeks ago and found his advice and knowledge to be very helpful.

Have you considered going to Greybull, Worland, then Buffalo to rejoin I-90?
Unless you are wanting to follow I-90 to visit the Custer Battlefield ... this route follows Ten-Sleep canyon and is quite scenic.
