Agree Cheyenne Mtn Park is great with a few nice little hikes.
We just left after staying there for a week and a half. Nice in the winter!
If you go to Buena Vista go to their hot springs
called Cottonwood! It’s really nice! CO has lots of hot springs that are nice.
I’d also really suggest going to the Western Slope of a CO- Montrose area. That is a bit less populated and more like good ole Colorado!

Gobbler Grove Loop. Sites 15-17 have a great rear window view of town.

I agree on the Gobbler Grove Loop. We had a back-in site that overlooked the city and watched the Labor Day CO Spgs. Balloon Festival through our picture window. Because the campground is elevated above the city, it provided a great view of the hot air balloons lifting off while we sat on the sofa with a cup of coffee.

Much nicer than the previous day when we had to find a place to park blocks away and fight the crowds to get a close-up view of the lift-off!
Retirement is the best job I ever had!
