Great states for RVing but you really need to look at elevation, also. For instance, Boise, ID gets very hot in summer and does eastern Washington.

NW vs PNW

Yesterday, we took a 5 hour drive in & around Mt Rainier National Park. Lived here 55 years & still can't stop taking pictures of it.

I think that the OP stated NW, not PNW as the inland NW is the greater great lakes region, whereas the PNW refers to OR-WA-ID (and maybe parts of No. Cal.) Not trying to be a nit picker, but living in the inland NW for a while taught me the difference! Oh ya, or no? Safe, and happy travels!

Chasing 70° weather

While I agree with you in principle, I checked the mileage between points, and it is around 600 miles a day AVERAGE! That's about 10 hours of driving, even on interstate highways! While it *can* be done, the question really comes to *should* it be done? That all depends on your age, vehicle(s) age, weather (it DOES change w/o notice!), road conditions, etc. Too many variables for me to embrace for those kind of figures. Safe, and happy travels!

The inland great lakes region is definitely not considered northwest.
Northwest and Pacific West are most often interchangeable.

Due to recent events (Covid-19 & Political) we are thinking about moving to NW Arkansas to be closer to family next year. This will move us even closer to the cooler areas. It would take off around 700 miles whichever direction we travel being I always route through NW Arkansas anyway.

We have not done this before due to my wife's BCBSAL insurance. She goes on Medicare next July, so we would not have that issue anymore. Also somewhere that has decent monthly rates would be a plus.

If you're in Alabama (AL) just go up to the North Georgia Mountains (Blue Ridge, Ellijay, and Blairsville) or up to the Cherokee National Forest or the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee.
Those are a few of the places we escape to from the Florida heat in the summer!

The Blue Ridge Parkway in NC and VA has several campgrounds close with seasonal campgrounds available. You might check Ashe, Alleghany and Watauga counties for availability. Also, the Fancy Gap, Va area might have a few. We spend summers in FL and summers in NC mountains. Love both!

You cant beat NW Michigan for the cool weather & great small towns. We have been going to the Petoskey, MI area for the past 18 summers. As long as you're within 8 miles of the East shore of Lake Michigan (which acts as a giant swamp cooler with the prevailing SW winds blowing across the 68 degree lake) you'll have really nice weather- cool & low humidity. Campgounds vary from $32- 145/night depending on how basic - Anua Osborn in Salt Ste Marie MI to Hearthside Grove in Petoskey, MI.
Happy Trails

Try telling that to the residents!

Northwestern University (NU) is a private research university in Evanston, Illinois. It was founded in 1851 by nine men whose goal was to establish a university that would serve the former Northwest Territory.

Island Park, ID
We spend most summers in Island Park, Idaho. It is on the Idaho side of the Grand Tetons, 20 miles south of West, MT (the western entrance to Yellowstone).
Many of the resort campgrounds have monthly rates, check out Lakeside Lodge.
The fishing is great. Lots of trails and off-roading.
Not as tourist heavy as other places near Yellowstone.
There are lots of work camp opportunities, if people are interested.
