Current I10 info

It's been a couple of years since I've driven I-10 from Jax, FL to Tucson, AZ. Has anyone driven that route recently and would comment on road condition.

An alternate route that's only 15-20 miles longer is 10 to Mobile then 98/49 up to Jackson, MS then West on I-20 to Ft. Stockton, TX and then I-10 the rest of the way.

We're open to either route and would appreciate comments of conditions.

Thanks very much.

I am around El Paso, I10 has been closed nightly for the last couple of weeks.

Its open during the day, I would plan going through EP, late morning or early afternoon.

Rush hour gets backed up (4pm-6pm)

So far as I10 going west from EP, went out this last summer all the way to CA, a couple of bumpy stretches in west NM, nothing too bad.

Enjoy your trip

I travel from Hattiesburg, MS. to Valdosta, GA. several times a year. I turn off Hwy 98 onto MS. Hwy 63 down to I10 rather than going thru Semmes as a personnel preference. Should you decide to go the I20 route I would follow my suggestion. Stay on I10 thru the tunnel until you reach the intersection of Hwy 63 in Ms. There will be a lot of traffic with lots of stop and go on Hwy 98 until you get thru Semmes unless you get there early morning of late at night.

As mentioned CJ7365, there is a lot of construction around downtown El Paso but you can miss most of it if you take loop 375 around the north side of El Paso. The only catch is the long climb over Transmountian Road (Smuggler's Pass). If a long climb and descent is not an issue for you, go for it.

Last week of June purchased our rig in Tucson and drove I-10 to I-75. We of course we're heading east. Do not recall any long construction delays and the road conditions were as good as it gets.

I 20 through Jackson is terrible. So is the highway out of Jackson towards Mobile. Once you get out of Mobile going towards Jackson, the rural sections are OK, but going through towns is terrible.

Just drove I 10 from MS to Florida I 75 last week.. very minor areas of construction.. drove last March from MS to California.. I 10 thru LA very bumpy... some areas of construction to California but none are terrible.. El Paso traffic sucks at rush hour!! I20 thru Shreveport is a roller coaster.. have a good grip on the steering wheel and everything tied down or secured!
