I did a a search or a dozen on Curt Gowdy State Park in Wyoming, but I still thought I'd ask here. Heading up there from my home in Colorado in the September. For those that have stayed there what is a good site there IN the park? Anyone stay at a site there that really liked it? I was looking at the reservations on Reserve America and there a lot that are open. What say you, fine folks, which is THE site?

Hi Starbreaker, we stayed at Curt Gowdy a couple years ago in July. The campground overlooking the lake is great. It is down the hill to the left and terraced so most of the sites have a great view of the lake and are reasonable level. It is one of those parks that is out in the middle of no where; Laramie is closest city, as I recall. We had rain, rain, and more rain so we only stayed 3 nights. Wish we could have stayed longer. If you do go, have fun. It is worth the long drive to get to it. Plus Curt Gowdy was a favorite sports broadcaster.

Stayed there last May & had planned to mountain bike & fish. After only 1 day a surprise snowstorm forced me & everyone else camped there to leave. I ended up at the KOA in Laramie which is at a much lower elevation & has snow plow services. Curt Gowdy is a great park. If you stay there be sure to hike to the hidden falls. Very scenic & worthwhile (about 4 miles round trip). As far as campsites, the terraced arrangement by the lake makes every site a good site. I was down next to the water. Loved it but would have been equally satisfied with almost any site. Also, they all seemed level.
