Also, we had dinner last night and lunch today at the lodge restaurant and it was very good. I had a NY strip and the wife had trout, both dinners were excellent. After the hike today, she had a club and I had a Reuben. Again, very good.
The waitress and hostess were very nice. The hostess was actually the camp host. She seems to be quite involved around the park.
The prices were more than reasonable, especially considering the meals were far better than expected.
We'll be here through Sunday and we DEFINITELY have this place on our return list for the fall.

Love this park and the surrounding beauty! I hope you didn't miss the seafood buffet served at the lodge on Friday night. We are planning a return trip in the summer.

They don't start the seafood buffet until mid April; I want to say either the 12th or 18th.The wife was mildly upset.....lol

Try the tomato pie at the Wildflower Cafe in Mentone.

Well, we're back at home.....unfortunately. What a fantastic little vacation that was, we'll definitely be back there in the fall.
A note for those who may choose to visit DSP, if you are coming in without a trailer or motorhome, you can take the the slightly more scenic way coming in from the north through the town of Mentone. BUT, if you're towing a trailer of any considerable size or a motorhome, I'd HIGHLY suggest coming in through Ft Payne and taking 11 to 35 to the Desoto Pkwy. Coming in that way only has one real grade and it's only a mile / mile and half. The other way is very narrow, lots of switchbacks, lots of tight turns, low hanging branches, etc. Makes a great ride but not a great haul.
